Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) has chosen TietoEVRY to deliver architecture and application development as well as maintenance services to the Health Village project. The internationally unique concept enables the development of personalized and holistic care for patients within specialized medical care.
Health Village is a digital service platform for specialized health care that offers information and support to citizens, care for patients and tools for healthcare professionals. The services offered by Health Village complement traditional health care, for instance support to patients with long-term illnesses at home, when preparing for surgery, during rehabilitation and as online therapy or through virtual peer support.
TietoEVRY has been the development partner of Heath Village since 2018. Health Village service platform enables creation of symptom navigators and digital care paths, monitoring of various health data, remote appointments and secured communication channels cross patients and care personnel.
The Health Village service also assists in rapidly changing situations. Coronabot, designed as part of the service, provides information to patients and health care professionals. Patients can assess their risk of catching the COVID-19 virus and receive support for their physical or mental concerns whereas health care professionals get support for care coordination.
“HUS aims to be the leading innovator within healthcare, and we are happy to continue the good co-operation with TietoEVRY. Health Village combines digital and live services into a flexible entity, offering the citizens the best possible service experience. It could also be possible to adapt Health Village services in the development of digital services for primary health care and social welfare – this would enable the flexible use of services and provide efficient help to people who need a lot of services,” says Sirpa Arvonen, Director for e-Health services within HUS IT.
”We are proud to be able to engage in a project that is important not only to HUS but for the entire country. Thanks to our strong expertise in healthcare and social welfare systems and our passion for pioneering work with health-tech related innovations we are able to further develop the service platform efficiently. The Health Village concept is unique even globally, and many of our Nordic clients have shown interest in it,” says Ilona Raitakari, Head of TietoEVRY’s Digital Health services.
Health Village offers both personalized care paths and information available to all citizens, free of charge. In 2019, the web service had more than 6.2 million visitors. The number of users is growing rapidly, and since the beginning of 2020, there have already been more than 2.9 million visitors. More information here.
