How long does it take to go live with a cutting edge business system from SAP? The answer is 10 weeks, according to timber-processing specialist Binderholz.
"When customers think of SAP systems, they often think of large, complex and time-consuming projects. But with this implementation we disproved the myth. Given the right set of priorities, two and a half months is all it takes," says Johan Tjernberg, Head of SAP Service Area Sweden, Tieto.
The catalyst for the project was the acquisition of Vapo Oy of Finland, which has enabled Binderholz to expand its operations in the Nordics.
The project represents a milestone for two reasons: the solution went live in record time – just 10 weeks – and also marked the first introduction of the S/4 HANA Enterprise Management 1511-system in the Nordic region.
By quickly implementing S/4 HANA, Binderholz could integrate key business processes following the acquisition of Vapo Oy, including financials, procurement and warehouse management. In addition, the SAP system unlocked new capabilities for real-time data monitoring and also brought about a new, improved user interface.
"Tieto’s strong expertise in the SAP field combined with our deep understanding of business processes in the forest industry was a key success factor in meeting the tight deadline. We took on the challenge and won," Tjernberg concludes.
